For DBs, the "Explode" property should always be set to "No" so that you end up with a block insert with dynamic properties to manipulate. ![]() The tool palette command reads the definition within the external file to add the definition and create an insert in the current drawing. If you look carefully at the properties of any of the dynamic block insertion commands on a well-designed tool palette, you will see that the "block" is inserted from a specific external drawing file (not from an existing definition within the current drawing, and not from a file matching the name of the DB). "Inserting a dynamic block using the tool palette will put the dynamic block in your current drawing."
